Hi all

Just signed up as got a shiny new phantom today. I'm new to quads but had helis for a few years

First flight out today, stock Phantom with GoPro White and dampener with additional moon gel. Flight was pretty stable even in strong wind. Hope to hang around and learn from you lot

That is one of the best first flight videos that I have ever seen. Nice!! I would recommend you set the GoPro to Medium or Narrow if possible. The wide angle setting gives you to much of a round view and it would definitely get the landing skid out of the way. Aside from that, cool. It was pretty steady. I'm on my 102th flight and I still get some shaking now and then but I'm still having a blast with mine.

Feel your pain. Look like almost went upside down. What do you think what happened?
What get damaged? Can you fix it? There are places you can buy parts.

crashes are inevitable, happens to lots of us.

Learn to turn on/use IOC Home Lock when you lose orientation,
and don't fear using Return to Home as a last resort,.. better to get your craft back than to lose it.

Do you have a picture of your set-up? I am interested in how you used the moon gel.

I switched back to GPS and turned on home lock but it was all too late. Just too much forward speed and wind. There was no damage at all though the GoPro flew off away from crash site and took 20mins to find

Here is the ebay mount I used, the moon jel is squashed under the bottom plate between the mount and phantom body
