I know you get a lot of these threads started, new guys looking for answers. I've been lurking through the forums on here looking for a definitive answer, but just need a little reassurance from you guys on here before I start to tear my Phantom 2 vision plus v3 transmitter and extender apart! so... as above, I have the Phantom 2 vision plus v3. I don't want to be greedy, I just want to increase my general range and usability of the quads fpv. It's already pretty good but it's struggles to keep up with my 2 brothers who both have the phantom 3. (One was flying the same distance and height as me roughly, he was facing the complete opposite way to his drone and I was keeping mine in line of site, mine gave out and returned home and he was still going!) long story short, I was looking into wiring in a TP-LINK 5dbi 2.4GHz into the WiFi extender and the same to replace the antenna in the transmitter. I'm quite confident with the procedure, I just wanted reassurance that this would give me improvement. I would still be practicing keeping the drone in line of site. Sorry for the long post, but I'm sure you guys appreciate me asking my question as correctly as I can. kind regards, Scottydogg38. (I also like the antenna interchangeability although I'm hoping with the 5dbi I won't need to change it )

That drone is a 5.8ghz video feed system so any amps/antenna needs to be in that range. If I understand correctly the control signal is 2.4ghz. Look here for mods you can use: FPVLR.COM - ONLINE STORE
And here: https://www.amazon.com/Phantom-Visi...id=1480293084&sr=8-2&keywords=5.8+ghz+booster
This too: https://www.amazon.com/BlueProton-P...id=1480293084&sr=8-3&keywords=5.8+ghz+booster
Great amps: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017OD57MQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I think using these types of add-ons you will be VERY pleased. Taking the controller apart is fairly easy and installing antenna mods is easy as well. The outcome is you WILL be able to fly farther and keep a signal lock much better than stock.

The Vision and the Vision Plus are the same: 5.8 on control, 2.4 on FPV.

The straight P2 is 2.4 on control.

Re the OP, I would not waste my time and money on the TP-LINK 5 dbi. Why? Because, in a word, it sucks. I'd invest in the ITELITE. If you can't find one for the Vision, you can get the one for the P3S because it's the same antenna but you'll have to figure out how to mount it on your P2V+ controller. There's a 3D printed bracket that works nicely.
