Hi there

I'm very happy to post my test with my phantom vision+ Plus upgraded

The experiment was a good adventure but also risky

I flew with my P2V+ more than 10000m from taking off to landing the phantom

And I advice the users to not risk their phantoms by trying this experiment

I used Horizom Antenn's 11dBi and with two pinwheel in UVA

I hope you enjoy the video below

impressive distance..please post your full setup.. I'm trying to beat my personal distance record of 2.1 miles.

Flight time was 16 Minites

I'm using an application in AppStore that speed up the video

Very impressive!

Are you using all the latest firmware and latest app?
Android or iOS?
Did 'Auto Land' not execute at 15% battery? How did you deal with that?

Thank you for your feed

Absolutely No....

I'm using oldest firmware 1.08

Also I'm using jailbreak in my mini ipad

And I was not using the Auto land

I reach this long distance after I expirmanted a few times on the phantom, see my Chanel

To how I started from the begging to reaching this point

Thank you

Nice.
There is just something strange in the video between 3:34 and 3:40
Look at the battery level and the orientation rose.

Geert./.

No things strange Geert

I know what you mean

But I should explain it to you, when the bird turn back I loss the wifi signal because the long distance then I connected with my bird again at 4750m

I hope it's clear to you now

Thank you

However I'm ready to sent the complete video to any users want that

I'm feeling there is some users unbelieve this long distance with full wifi !!!

well done ,

believe it guys this flight was achieved with the horizon setup , ( this was 11 dB )

here s a link to a setup that has even MORE gain .

Like I was saying in the very beginning ,the battery is the weakest link this antenna range will out perform what the UAV can fly .

this has a 3 db lift on 5.8 GHz due to true RHCP BOTH ENDS of the path link .

here is a details look at the kit. 2 x 12 dB on 5.8 and 2.4

Hi there

I would like to give some advices for the usurers that would like to fly these long distances
And I hope they take these advices seriously so I wouldn't be blamed for losing or damaging there phantom .

First thing you need to do is start with small distances at first 3500m after that 4000m and after that 4500m and at the end 5000m
Why should you do that?
So that you can know if the battery is in its best condition and you can relay on it

Secondly you should always know the direction of the wind and the speed and always at first fly against the wind so that you can safely come back

Third I recommend who don't have a lot of experience and the new users should not do this experiment

Last of all don't ever think that you can get this long distance with the new firmware from the DJI

Thank you all

What would you recommend to get 1-1 1/2 miles of range on the Phantom 2 v+

Hi Bombuler

You mean two km

You shouldnt worry alot about this distance

But you should fly your phantom when its not windy

Good luck

This IS a very impressive test result, but I have absolutely no desire to fly that far away. I might go a mile or so (what is that 1600 meters?), but I value my bird too much for any more risk than that. If I had a few spares and cost was not an issue I would probably experiment with (and use) that kind of distance, but with the preponderance of EMI in the world today I'm too chicken to risk my $1300 on it. (An alternative would be to have all critical functions be redundant in the bird and controller - but that means a lot more weight and power.)

Now having said that, the techie in me wants to know - is the 2.5W booster in the wifi receive line?

Thanks for sharing your accomplishment though. Well done.

I know it's so risky to do this distance but it's interesting !!

The important things you should use a performance antennas and follow the steps and the advices that I mentioned before.

Thank you

You didn't answer my booster question but I think I've answered it myself - in part. It appears that the SH24BTA-N is bidirectional so is it boosting both the receive and the transmit of the wifi signal?
