great forum, got myself P4 for Christmas, have read the manual a few times, registered with FAA, used the simulator a few hours and had it outside for a few runs. Pretty much staying under 75', all well within my property, just buzzing around, trying to get used to controls and functions. It's a blast. What are the key settings to keep an eye on to try to avoid problems...as I saw In the other thread, the RTH height is obviously one. Anything else.

anybody fly at an RC model airplane field? , I have one 5 minutes from the house. It's run by a club. I sent an email to ask about drones, have not heard back.

Calibrations are more important then just the settings. Charging batteries to 100% before flying is important. Flying in noise free environment is important.

Knowing RTH operations and its altitude setting is important.

Setting battery levels for RTH is crucial.

I have a few settings/procedures:
Set home point manually
Set/CHk RTH altitude
Set/chk max altitude (must be higher than RTH altitude)
Note which way P4 is facing
Use takeoff button, let hover for a minute
Engage recording mode

In addition to the above:
Do a pre flight physical inspection of the drone before flight
Remove gimbal guard
Wait for the drone/ app to initialise
Check satellite count
Check settings in app
Take it up to 5 mtrs and check stick functions
Check surroundings for people and other obstacles
Adopt an idiotic grin and have fun
