So as rumors stated before the new standard iMacs and Macbook Pros will indeed come with 4k. Thanks to trusted resource. Which then makes the more powerful iMac jump up to 8k. 4k is all I need. I just hope they bump up the standard processor to i7.

Yay i suppose? My $650 pc will run circles around any mac in everything from rendering 4K to office productivity to gaming you name it. I guess if you really like that extremely unintuitive OS and paying 4X to much then apple is the way to go. Apple is fine just not my cup of tea.

What about security & stability? There is a reason why companies like Google do not allow any employees to use Windows...

I moved to Mac a few years ago after years of saying the same thing... "why would I pay this much for a Mac when my PC can do the following..." Then I bought a Mac. I can't imagine going back.

Btw, let's see some pics of this Pro Street Camaro.

I started on a Mac 20 yrs ago but as the saying went - Mac office -DOS world.

6 yrs ago went to the Mac Air and I will never go back.

$650? You're full of it. i7-5820K alone is almost $400.

Kinda of over exaggerating and really depends on what your looking for. I have a 1 year old custom built pc and my 5 year old iMac runs circles around it. Everything about my iMac is better than my custom built pc. From processing to intuitivity. From freezing all the time to rendering and finalizing projects. I never had such a headache with a computer until I paid $700 for this box of metal crap that everyone swore up and down would run circles around my mac. I also have plenty of friends in digital art schools and they are given macbook pros at the beginning of their 2-4 year curriculum. Theres a reason for that and I wont go into too much detail.
My mac has never froze once while editing where as my custom pc freezes quite often and for you to say your custom never freezes makes me question your honesty. From the back up save feature macs have compared to pc. Yes you could option an auto save every so often. But, I have found myself in more problems with this using my pc where once it freezes it loses a lot of things you have done to your project before and after auto save. Where mac it almost doesnt even matter. My first mac crashed on me a couple times and everytime it did I started it up and it opened the project to the exact point I was at without having emabled any auto save settings. Then lets talk about the warranty. As custom built pc have no warranty what so ever. Have plenty of pc techs that informed me that once a part goes wrong in your pc its a chain reaction and you have to replace each part that goes out by yourself. Where as Mac has apple care for an extra $100 that cover your apple product for up to 3 years. However, I do have some friends who are PC Gods and they spent well over $2,000+ on their custom build and the only difference that i saw compared to my 5 year old mac was that they can finalize projects faster and have more customizable settings. Thats all, so for you to say your $600 setup will run circles around these macs is far from the truth and unless you actually used and owned a mac yourself and built on one. Then I will just put you in the category of those people who are too stubborn to try something new.

Exactly my point.. this guy is just one of those guys over exaggerating about how much cheaper is pc is compared to mac. I will say though for the same price of Mac you can build a very nice custom built PC. ($2,000+)

Mac air really isnt something to brag about. Its doesnt have near the performance of a macbook pro. Macbook air is just a standard extremely light and extremely thin laptop. Its more for looks and portability than it is for performance. Theres a reason they discontinued those.

when I was working I bought the Air for the reasons above and connected it as a "bring your own device" to my corporate network. Choice was simple 3 lb's versus 6 for a POS Windows device.... My choice and I was happy to pay 2x To your point the new Macbook while expensive is 1.5x power of the Air....

I love all my PC, and Apple products. As a designer, I love the feel of Apple products, as a coder I prefer PC. It's a myth that Macs are more secure. The majority of the world uses PC so more malicious code is targeted at PCs not Macs. It speaks nothing about the built-in security of Macs. I've had Macs freeze on me plenty of times, if you've never had a Mac freeze on you, you're using it wrong.... or not all the way. I have an i7 Macbook pro, iPhone, iPad mini for mobility, but at home I prefer my i7, 16gb ram PC for hackability purposes. The power and stability of the new Mac tower will destroy plenty of custom PCs but is irrelevant unless you process video. Both are great. Don't download porn, and the boogyman won't infect your files. And my grandma can beat up your grandma.

Very well said. I actually agree with you 100% and share the same feeling for both of them the reason I'm excited about the newer iMac models being 4k because now I can finally edit on 4k. I have been using a 2010 basic imac with 16gb ram upgrade for quite some time now and has served me well. Computers upgrade every year regardless if its pc or apple. I tend to buy the $1,100-1,300 imacs because almost every year they upgrade. I just cant justify spending $2k-3k on an imac or pc just to be outdated within the next 2-3 years. Now when I say outdate I dont mean useless
I'm just talking about newer models being bigger and better. As I said, I'm still working on a 2010 imac. No reason to switch if it does its job. But, now since my Phantom 3, GoPro and Samsung s5 all shoot in 4k, its time I finally upgrade so i can at least enjoy the 4k. Not to mention I won't mind faster rendering and processing speeds compared to my 2010.

My 3rd ex-wife had a Mac Air. It was sweet, but I never could get used to that small screen. And the power wasn't that great, as stated already. But **** that thing was light! I go see both my orthopedic surgeon and my neurosurgeon, they have the huge Macs everywhere. Always freezing up, they keep a guy full time to make the rounds to keep them running. I got a kick out of that. Not bashing, I'd sure like to have a new MBP!! Been using a PC so long, I'll probably be staying with 'em. In a funds dilemma at the moment. The Debt From Above got me!
