Hi Everyone. I recently tired upgrade the transmitter antenna to higher gain 5dbi omni and the performance is terrible and keep cutting off. Is that because I use 2.4 ghz not the 5.8ghz one? I am thinking to purchase the 5.8 11dbi panel antenna if that can solve the problem. I can't really find many 5.8ghz omni with 5dbi or more out there. Can anyone give me some advise please.

Antenna gain is referenced to an 'ideal' isotopic omni directional antenna. Isotopic is the 'i ' in dBi.
So any claim of gain requires beam shaping.
Maybe you're operating in an orientation which puts you in the reduced radiation portion of your antenna.
