From my very first time taking my P3S into the air I could tell that my iPhone 5 screen was kinda small for the job of monitoring the flight. Plus the fact that the phone I was using all day quickly ran out of batteries midway through the flight made me search for a solution.
I noticed that one of the daily deal website I visit was having a sale on BLU phones. I picked a 5.5" Android 4 phone for under $50. It took an OS upgrade to Android 5 and has a big bright screen that is nice to look at from all kinds of angles. It fits in the phone holder clip nicely and paired up with my Phantom easily. I had to install an old SIM card in it so the DJI Go app would download. No problem there. I downloaded a bunch of map areas to the phone for offline use so they'll be available when I'm out away from my home wifi. So now I have a big dedicated flight screen that should be ready for me when I go to fly.
