Need help with new h3-3d dji gimble on my p2 v2

I connected it per the dji web site YouTube video,but after connecting my gopro hero 3+ black, I saw white smoke coming from the right side of the gimbal. This is the second one I have purchased that did the same thing...what am I doing wrong .. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks for anyone's help with this issue, would like to use my camera on this. The gimbal has for phantom 2 on the box as well.

The same Phantom fried two gimbals? Don't plug in anymore gimbals! Send it all back.

Is there a way to check power to the gimbal to see what is reading and what it should read? I can't return the phantom I can return the gimbal. After the puff of smoke from the gimbal it still powers on with a red light on the gimbal.
