ND Filters worth it?

Actually based on your exact question, it's not required in all cases. You don't need it for:
1) photos
2) night video/photos
3) low light video/photos when shutter is near 2x frame rate (sunset/sunrise)

All other cases better get one, else you'll have crappy video! [emoji16]
