Putting together the bits for my F450 build- I'm stuck on this one.

I want to try and duplicate the Naza led diffuser on the Phantom. I no longer have my Phantom and I don't recall how it was done.
I've found this:

but with shipping to UK it works out a lot of money for a bit of plastic.

I've raided the grand-kids toy box- but come up with nothing!

Any ideas would be useful, thanks

You can use any it of plastic. Buy a sheet of Lexan or plexiglas from Home Depot and sand it down. Or use plastic bauble/weight from an ikea picture frame. It will probably end up being more expensive than the things linked though.

I personally dislike all diffusers. They are only useful up close, and diminish by 4-5x the visibility of the LED over distance. I removed my phantom diffuser and angled the led down, and it's visible for several hundred meters now and at more angles, as an intense pinprick of light.

Thanks Elguano. You have made me think it better to wait till my Naza arrives- to see if I need a diffuser.

You won't need one. The LED on the Naza is super bright and you can see it from a long way away.

Warning... blatent sales plug!

I designed this for the 450 (assuming you are using the v2 LED.... which is well worth while doing if not causes its dirt cheap).

The 450 version comes with a slide in panel that can be used for a Fibre Optic OSD but the thin white nylon works well as a diffuser. Most important thing is the 45 degree angle which really helps visibility at height (not easy to show it in a pic though).

Dewey, I normally ignore the ads ;) , but this I quite like that. What does it weigh - and shipping UK ?

Mount for LED module: https://www.shapeways.com/model/1529889 ... terialId=6

OT: I actually just pulled the diffuser off my old P1 shell to attach to the LED module on my Wookong/550. The problem I was having was the color blending...it can be very difficult to tell the purple (GPS mode) from the blue (Failsafe) depending on what angle I'm looking at the LED. I tested it with the Phantom's diffuser on it, and I can now clearly discern all colors from all angles. Not sure if I'd bother with it on the NAZA LED though.

However, I would like to find a solution that doesn't reduce effective range of the LED so much (though it hasn't been an issue so far), so any suggestions regarding the OP's question would be welcome.
