Crashed my P2V+ and obviously the gimbal broke in three pieces so instead of buying vision + gimbal/camera I decided to go for 2.4Ghz FPV kit.
So I bought £25 7" screen, £39 2.4Ghz video transmitter + receiver and £10 3S 1300mah Lipo battery to power it all.
Initial tests proved it to have better range than my 5.8Ghz remote controller only using standard antennas.

Looks good.
How about some info on what components you used, where you got them and how you set it up?

Sure..

Everything has been bought from ebay.
7" screen 800x480 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351102697638?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

2.4Ghz 500mw Video transmitter and receiver http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261078663684?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

1300mah 3S lipo battery http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151387947669?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

2 axis gimbal http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131243805070?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

screen mount http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111420720513?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

So the video out from GoPro is directly connected to video transmitter with this cable http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121416329007?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Power for the video transmitter and gimbal is connected to the cables that connect phantom 2 battery with the board.
I have disconnected and cut all the unnecessary cables from the screen and soldered to it connector that goes to the receiver and another one for the battery.

Also as I'm using Vision plus I had to downgrade Phantom to firmware 1.08 where I could enable gimbal control and change some settings for it to work properly then upgraded back to 3.06.
Gimbal tilt lever is made by me out of plastic and shaped using heat gun.

How is the FPV video quality versus the PV2+ FPV video quality?

for me its definitely better as i could only use 320x240@30fps reliably on PV2+ and 640x480 would cut off within maybe 20 meters.
With this FPV i get 640x480@60FPS constantly.

Would a 3 axis zenmuse be much different/more difficult? also are they worth the hype? 2nd p2v+ just died on me 20 days out with no crashes. I already have a GoPro that films better. Debating on just returning this junk and getting a Phantom 2 instead of a replacement. It comes with the zenmuse and the tilt control figured out.

You should probably be careful using a TX that's 50 times the legal UK 2.4GHz 10mW limit.

Actually, you cannot fly legally in the UK with 2.4GHz. It is only for ground based video transmission.
Only 5.8GHz is licence free for aerial use at 25mW.

i just got my quad for 3 weeks ago. kind a newbie. I like your FPV set up. The Price is reasonable and get the job done. I am thinking about getting same FPV system like yours. any issue so far that i should aware? :?:
