I am looking to avoid having a large monitor for my FPV use. I'm not doing anything long-range (I think that's a bit reckless anyway), and really just want something simple to make sure my shots are framed appropriately. Don't even need great resolution for that.

Does anyone have experience with something like this? I am concerned about the antenna, though.

Any other smaller receiver/monitors you can recommend?

I use the Black Pearl monitor. It's not huge, but gives you an accurate view of your position.

Here's my setup. Black pearl with spironet patch antenna and spironet CIR antenna. Even when you don't fly long range FPV, IMO, you should still use a high quality setup to give you the best experience and realiability.
