Yes, in an FC40 you will need to add either the PMU or the P1 upgrade board...those will give you the ability to add/have the canbus port the iOSD mini needs.
Using the PMU will just give you the canbus port directly, the upgrade board will still require you to solder on a canbus port (or the iOSD mini directly) to the board.
