Do you have an pics of the setup?

Same thing/concept as a windsurfer. As for the range, this is pretty typical with the use of this type of parabolic reflector.

thats gotta be one hell of an antenna at 35" !

:D

Im curious about trying this as the range on my own P3 isn't stellar...im currently looking around on Amazon for something similar

Don't try to re-purpose an(y) item. Just buy one of the many Windsurfer (generic description) parabolic designs out there. They're designed to fit your controller and some offer handy folding/stowage features.

Don't pay more just for copper either. It's of no benefit in this case.

I think I'm going to go low tech ie; the 'make your own windsurfer' thingie

- or -

go big and do the actual range extender for $65

Frankly, for $65 I can't really see how you can go wrong and since it's amazon if it doesn't work, you could just return it.

TEHO.

Having said that the windsurfers are the best distance mod for the $ when considering price, performance, ease of use, warranty concerns, ability to remove when not needed, no fussing with wires, cables, batteries, etc.

thats definitely why I'm gunna try that first. It would be awesome though to have a one mile range on the P3 Std....

hey - thats cool. Especially if it works, right?

I would think you'd want to shave the top down a little as to not slide up your hands

It works, because the signal gets pointed more directly to the drone, but if you point the antenna the wrong direction, 60-80% less signal

how can you tell the antennas' directionality?
