Hello there,

I just joined the community, I'm enjoying a trip to France, my country, before I go back to where I now live, the socialist paradise that's Cuba, where the internet access is terrible, to investigate a bunch of things.

I apologize if my english isn't that good, I don't practice much nowadays.

I bought my P3P in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where I made my first flights, everything went just fine, before I went back to Cuba smuggling the quad trough customs ( in checked luggage, crossing fingers, everything went according to the plan )

But once in Cuba the DJi app was showing a black screen where it was supposed to show a map, sure it has something to do with the Cuban prohibition about GPS equipment or whatever.

Do you guys have any idea if that's possible to fix that one way or another ?

I mean, the quad connect, or WAS connecting ( I'll tell you later how I lost it ... ) to a bunch of satellites, around 16 or 18, the GPS coordinates DO exist, that's universal stuff. the RTH and all GPS stuff was working fine, it's just that the map is missing and the truth is it could have been a life saver the day I lost the P3P.

If you don't have internet access in the field, you need to cache your maps in advance. Are you able to connect to the internet to download maps in advance of flying?

Well, that's one thing I can do now that I'm in Europe, because over there it's almost impossible, I mean we do have internet access on some wifi spots but that's even worse than during the late 90s and the 56k era.

Hmm, sorry but can you, or someone else, tell me where I can download the map and where I'm supposed to install it ?

Thank you for the help, I'm being optimistic again ;)

You do it in google maps. The cached maps expire in something like 30-60 days, though, so that's not going to help you for the long haul.

Hmmmm.

Since we don't know what type of device you're using, here's how for Apple devices...

Make sure that "cache maps in background" is enabled in the app. While on wifi, open the GO app and go to the map in the GO app. Then just scroll around the area in which you will be flying. Zoom to the most detail you can and scroll around. Get some of the area around where you plan to fly just in case you go out of your planned radius.
