Since up grading hardware/ software I now have an intermittent problem with my Rx TX. PV2 flies great for a round 1.5 minutes then losses comms ... goes into safe mode and returns with Rx TX every now and again making communication till around 5 minutes with them both turn on where all communication stops. If I turn both off for 10 mins and they will communicated for around the same time as above and stop again. I have down loaded all the new hardware and software 3 times and its still happening. If I leave the phantom on and turn the Controller off I will not get a re connection but if I do it the other ways around I will get a re connection which tellls me it the Phantom with the problem in receiving . Any advice would be helpful as there are not too many of these in New Zealand !!!

Hi Peter,

I had the same problem, except the other way around.

I figured out by the same process of elimination as you, that my RC TX unit fails after between 5 and 10 mins (times seems to vary).
If I left the Phantom turned on, but turned the TX off for a few minutes, then turned the TX back on, it would connect for a short while, then fail again.
It wasn't cost effective for me to send mine back, as I bought from overseas.
So I ended up having to buy a Futaba 8FG RC unit which was compatible with the P2 (non vision)

I'd recommend that you try to return it and get a refund or a new P2V.

Alternatively, you'd need to replace the receiver.
However I suspect you'll need to get one from DJI or one of their distributers, because I think that the RC system on the P2 Vision uses 5.8Ghz rather than the standard 2.4Ghz frequency.
I don't know if anyone else sells 5.8Ghz RC control receivers. (I looked on HobbyKing, but couldn't see anything listed)

Just looked online, and it seems you need one of these
http://www.ja-gps.com.au/DJI/phantom-2-vision-receiver/
or from here (if they had stock)
http://arkrc.com.au/djip2sp16-dji-phant ... -receiver/

PS. I'm in Melbourne (so at least I'm in the same hemisphere ;-)

Hi Peter,

No worries.

I don't think there is much you can do apart from replace the RX unit, unless you can find another P2V owner close to you.

From what I recall, there are a couple of other guys in NZ on this forum, but I think they are P2 (non -vision) owners, as I saw their posts on the P2 firmware update thread, so I guess that it would only apply to P2 (non vision)

I found it impossible to determine whether my RC TX unit has faulty apart from the process of elimination, even though I have some basic electronic test equipment, as the frequency that these things use, are so high e.g. 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz that you'd need some very specialist ($$$$) test equipment, to determine what the fault actually was.

Anyway, good luck with replacing the RC RX unit.

Thanks for that. It just confirms my diagnosis. Only had this 3 weeks and its been out of the air for a week of it. Lets see what I can get out of DJI ??http://www.phantompilots.com/posting.php?mode=reply&f=19&t=11735#
