Low flights in nfz.

I see countless videos online of people flying in areas that are within 5 miles of an airport. Everything from large commercial airports to tiny municipal ones. In most of these videos they seam harmless, flying very close and under 100 feet just taking video of stuff like in a local park. I always hear the 5 mile rule but there seams to be countless examples of people still doing it. Is there some sort of unwritten rule or something I missed, I would love to just go to a local park and fly around in beginner mode, but I think that still technically is not cool.

I'd like to know how. I can't even take off in a nfz. Some of them are overkill. Warnings are fine. But locking it from take off is too big brother.

I think in part it depends on the size of the airport. I live within 5 miles of our local small airport, it does not have a tower. The park I fly in sometimes is also in the 5 miles radius. I did as the FAA suggests and called the airport manager. The manager had no problem agreeing with a blanket notification for me flying at home and the park. His main question was my intended altitude (400ft AGL). He did request that if I want to fly in other areas in the 5 miles radius that I give him a quick call.

I have no trouble flying at either location.

I finally got ahold of him and he requested I email him back with my intended flying areas and my craft info. It sounded like he would be giving me the ok, and he just wanted something on record.
