No more dangerous than charging one at a time, other than the fact you've multiplied the number of batteries that could potentially fail while charging. I don't know if the batteries have to be at nearly the same voltage or not (it would be nearly impossible to always get them all to the exact same voltage when drained). Mine are usually pretty close when I charge them.
