That is bad. I don't know why it's so bad on your device. On my iPhone 6s, it's an excellent resolution.

Why is the litchi map quality so much poorer than the google maps one ?

I sometimes think it's opposite way round, particularly here in upcountry Thailand.

the question remains, why is here a difference in certain areas, do they not use Google maps?

Using ipad 3 mini. I also noticed solar panels on roof in google maps but not on litchi.
I'm at a loss.

Just realised it wasnt google maps but apple maps that has the better quality and google maps the poorer compared to it and litchi uses google maps. And only in my area, other parts of the UK are far better quality.

And does litchi have google maps installed as I now don't have google maps on iPad ? Sorry to drone on

It appears Litchi doesn't use Google map images. I'm not sure where Litchi gets their aerial data, but in my case the Litchi images are newer than Google map images. I'm impressed.

Here's the Litchi aerial photo showing a local housing track being built. Notice the three models are finished.

Here's the same area shot from Google. Notice the models aren't started yet. The grading of the roads aren't done either.
