Was just installing a video transmitter on a mates Phantom with him. He had prop guards on and tried fitting the FPV himself but gave up and brought it over. We were putting it back together and he had forgot to bring the prop guards with him so we assembled it without them. He forgot to mention that the prop guards came with longer screws. As you can probably tell by now we screwed in the long screws and screwed them right into the motors! All 4 of them ruined.

I did notice they were harder but he said they were flush with the plastic before and we looked at my Phantom as a reference so I just assumed it was the lock tight making it harder to turn. Really wasnt too hard to tighten :(

dont feel so bad, i just got my new carbon props... excited i put them on and tried to take off, the phantom tipped over breaking two of the props.

why? i put them on wrong, one righty and lefty opposite eachother

doh

I was out with my little Dachshund and I was going to do a quick flight. Started my P2 up and my Dachshund went straight for the props which he does not do. Instead of shutting it down I scooped up my little one and escorted him inside. Came out and did the startup stick control with the props still spinning because I didn't shut it down and it tipped. Butchered up two of my props. I've got an extra set, but still, that blows.

This should be on ongoing thread :) The stupidest thing I did with my Phantom.... Very entertaining and a little painful.

I wanted to be cool and buzz myself, did a great job of it flying right at myself and just over my head. Did not see the tree behind me until I turned to watch my Phantom buzz by. Ooops! Just a broken prop guard. Which I replaced, but now fly without because they seem to more easily cause stability problems on decent (VRS)...my second stupidest thing....first FPV flight came in for a landing, must have come down too fast not having as good a sense of flight attitude in FPV, entered VRS...crashed. Broken prop and bent gimbal. Fortunately I was able to fix the bent gimbal.

I'm sure my stupidest moment is yet to come!

+1, this thread is winning!

I know someone who may have inadvertently taunted a suicidal helicopter shooting yet another Fast and Furious film the other night in downtown LA. This someone took all the right precautions: was on their office roof a good 1/4 mile away minding their own business, high visibility strobes, under class B and under 400ft AGL, clear LOS all around. But it's quite possible a member of the million dollar a minute shoot took issue to it. The insane helo which has been terrorizing the area for the past two days stunt flying 50ft over roof tops and under 100ft AGL flew right up to the quad (within 150 feet), yawed back and forth as if to say "FO" and then flew back to the shoot area. Someone may have pooped just a little when that happened.

Complaints have already been filed about the helicopter. Rightfully so. As if quads were a danger. Maybe if they weren't perpetuating such a horrible franchise, the nuisance and risk imposed might be slightly more tolerable.

I want to bind a different Tx to my phantom as to have an extra channel... so I can make a quick release servo for water balloons, plastic eggs, or jelly beans.

Is this a dumb idea?

crazy.

Thanks guys, glad to know I'm not alone. Makes me feel better haha

Live and learn I guess. Now to get it back in the air! Don't like the thought of having to desolder the old motor off the board and soldering a new one on. Might just cut the wires half way and solder the wires back together to be safe. Oh well its ANZAC day here today so this will have to wait til tomorrow when I can go find some replacements.
