Was talking to one guy in the club. He asked you crashed your drone yet.
Not yet. I'm in beginners mode.
Why you crashed yours.
He said I have about 24 drones I have crashed and destroyed in 3 yrs flying them.
When they fall out of the sky they are history.

Any of y'all heard of this.

Heard of what?

Crashing a Drone and them not being worth repairing.
Heard when you lean them in a hard turn and they come down and crash.
Its hell on the drone.

It really depends on what you break. In many cases, it's cheaper to repair the drone than to purchase a brand new drone.

It doesn't sound like a club I'd like to be a part of.

Literally, I wouldn't join any club nor desire to fly my drone at a club's site. Since helicopter drones need no runway and there is nothing to image at an RC club's site, I see no benefit of a club.

RTF camera drones are One Trick Ponies.

With the exposure the OP may want to get into other r/c flying types which do offer different thrills/risks/rewards.

But if u just want to fly a camera... agreed, then it may be a one and done type experience.

(I did have camera(s) on my planks a decade ago.)

It seems like some RC clubs have a bias against multi-rotor aircraft.
