To have a bad compass sensor, yet still be able to calibrate?

My Vision has been recently behaving as if the compass isn't calibrated (yaw drift, etc.). I'm recall rating the compass before each flight successfully but it continues to behave as if it's not.

I'm going to order a new sensor (if I can find one), but was wondering if it's possible to be bad but still calibrate?

I've seen/read that thread. Doesn't apply to me. Me PV has flown great on many flights until recently. When I fly straight out or back it flies dead straight. It only shows drift when yawning and then returns to the hover spot.

Like I said, it calibrates but doesn't fly calibrated.
