iPad or iPhone Failure Results

I'm looking to buy a Phantom 3 Pro. Both my iPad and my iPhone are a little sketchy at the moment though. They like to reboot themselves at inopportune times. What happens when such an occurrence happens mid flight? Does the drone automatically return to home?

It will not return home. You technically only need the remote controller to fly. The FPV part is just an added bonus. But, it's a bonus that most people cannot (should not) do without
