Can i use the apple ipad 5th generation with my Phathom 4 pro? i am guessing it is the 5th generation on the apple site because that is what they have for sale?

The 5th generation is the current 2017 iPad model. It's compatible with DJI GO -- as well as all of the other Apple devices listed here.
I've been using my ipad 2017 with no problems but I've just recently updated to IOS 11.0.3, so I'm not sure of the impact

Same here, using the iPad 2017/Gen5... works great.
Just updated to 11.something.something, haven't flown it yet. And, the stupid thing auto updated Go4 as well, dammit!
