I wonder if someone knows what is the exact function of the two internal 2.4 GHz patch antennae. Obviously I understand they are there for the video link, but... Are there two of them as diversity receiving antennae or one is for transmitting (something like confirmation codes) and the other for receiving video? I tried to cover either of them and then both of them with aluminium foil, to see what happens (signal drop), but the results were inconclusive.

Also someone knows what is their dbi rating. Judging by the size they seem to be in the 3 - 5 dbi range, but it is very difficult to know.

I would like to get more range and plan to do a DIY antenna, but I wonder if it is a good idea to leave one antenna untouched, and replace the other with something more directional, in the range of 10 - 11 dbi, to double the video range.
