So, this is probably a stupid question, but I am going to ask it anyway. AMA provides insurance if you join with them. Does this cover only flights done as hobby or can I use this with commercial flights with my drone too? I am looking for some options since I am trying to figure out if I can get coverage for an area not covered by Verifly because of being close to a "private airport", farmer's plane and runway at his farm. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I thought–and I could be wrong–that it only covered you while flying at AMA approved venues?

Not any more. They have revamped their insurance several times and over the years. This used to be the case but not now. This started changing when Park Fliers gained popularity a few years back.

That is explicitly so.

So If I were to fly lets say at Red Rock in Nevada (not the casino lol) and have an accident and possibly damage a vehicle or even worse a person would the insurance cover the damages (with the deductable paid) even though I'm not at an AMA air field? I read the .pdf file but it doesn't exactly say it does. Sorry to bring up such an old thread but I thought it would be a better choice instead of making a duplicate post and get flamed. lol Thanks for anyone who could help me. I'm on the fence of getting membership (considering the price)

Lots of caveats. It's liability only and only kicks in after other insurance (I.e. Your homeowners policy) maxes out.

I don't have any form of insurance at the moment so would that be considered my primary? hmm very interesting reply Richard.
