Installing firmware.

Hi. Santas coming with my P3S on Sunday.
Is it necessary / desirable to install new firmware to aircraft and controller before anything else, when I get stated.
There seems to be some dispute about installing same, or have I misunderstood.

While it's not necessary to install the latest firmware, the majority of Phantom owners are having no trouble with it. If you decide to install it, you can see how it's done here:

Santa got held up in Customs..... He'll be with you as soon as he posts duty on your Phantom.... seriously, just fly it (after familiarizing the features it has). Fly slow, know what return to home is and what you need to set it at. and enjoy.... it's just a flowndering $500 gizmo.......

You can read the list of publicized changes in the firmware release notes on the P3S downloads page. In addition to those changes, DJI often makes other small improvements and/or fixes bugs that are not mentioned in the release notes.

And will never tell anybody directly to update or not.
But I am the Anti-Firmware guy...

After update 1.7 i cannot get my p3s to connect

I will be watching this like a hungry buzzard, this is not fun.....
