Help A Novice! A red blinking light while powering on

So I know this is a lame question but I can't power up the Phantom. I press the button once, then again for around two seconds. The green lights stay on but a red blinking light on the battery. Then, it shuts itself off. Yes, the battery is charged. What am I missing here? I assume its embarrassingly simple... Thanks!

What happens if you press the button battery once and release it?

I get four steady green bars and one steady red light.

Battery shows solid four green bars and one solid red light. I have two batteries and both do the same.

This new out of the box, btw. I've never flown one before and totally excited!

Are you pressing the button once and then immediately pressing it again and holding it?

I know sometime the sequence is a little touchy, but push release, push hold should cause he battery to power up and remain on.
On occasion I have to do it 2 or three times to get it right.
If the battery is fully charged and in the charger there are no lights at all.

I got it started! Now there is a blinking yellow light and beeping sound.

Beach Dog you may be forgetting one very important thing. Read and understand the manual.. you won't regret. Fly safe have fun my friend
