I got a front led for the FC40 today, wasnt to sure about having a wire outside after my crash last time so thought I would mount it in the battery lid
Here is what I done

The drill I used to cut the hole was a 29mm plumbers drill
Had to shorten the power cable as well

Might add a lens cover or like likes not sure yet.

Mine has no effect on my flight time..........Have mine on the outside also .I might change, thanks for the idea

Nice idea be it a bit permanent. But you can get a spare battery door if you want to undo it.
I moved up to a Gopro so I mounted the FC40 Cam with velcro to the battery door. I had to find a LED ring to fit around it. Found one in a very cheapo flashlight from a cheapo outlet store. Paid 5 bucks for it and took out the LEDs and threw the rest away.

I put one on my AR Drone to help with orientation. Worked great and no difference in battery life but the wires are real easy to pull out ot the plug and light itself. Fixed the plug end, no too much luck in the headlight end.

I stuck mine on the battery door and stuffed the wires through the crack alongside the latch.
Yours looks a bit nicer though
