Ground Station Question...

So with ground station. You plug in your waypoints and off it goes. Does the drone need to maintain contact with your remote the whole time? I read even if it's flying under ground station, if it drops connection it will stop and RTH. Or is it possible to send it off into the blue, switch off your remote and go have a beer?

Just curious about the behavior - not actually planning on allowing my baby to go wandering.
