GPS Issues

I’m having a problem with the GPS fluctuating between 5 and 6 satellites. Shouldn’t the bird “lock in” the 6th satellite? I waited for about 10 minutes but it never did stabilize. Flight canceled. Now I’m concerned to fly because what if it happens after takeoff, which brings me to my next question. How does the Phantom react in the air when it only has 5 or less satellites? I’m asking this because I have lost all transmitter stick control twice but was able to get the Phantom back using failsafe mode.

The satellites are in orbit and come up over the horizon and drop down.
The Phantom can't "lock" them and just has to deal with what it can get.
If you have less than 6 sats, the phantom defaults to atti mode and has no way of knowing where it is or how to RTH.
The Phantom has a well known fault that results in reduced sat reception.
It is easily fixed (foil mod) and will result in you probably having 10+ sats for all flights.
