I've read a fair amount of people prefer using the medium settings for their Gopro to avoid the worst of the fish eye effect associated with the wide settings. I have also read that the wide setting uses all the sensor but the medium and narrow settings don't - basically the Gopro is just cropping the image on the sensor.

Is this the case? Is therefore the 1080 limited to the wide setting and the medium and narrow settings less than this? Why not just record wide and crop PP?

Thoughts appreciated as I'm a bit confused. :?

Just have someone hack the GoPro and you will be delighted as to the advantages :) Personal settings vary, unleash it's full potential.... Lens upgrades are available also.
