Is there a trick to marking the gimbal lever on the remote so that the camera stays centered.

Flying my bird, I accidentally moved the bottom lever and don't know where it was centered. I guess I could put some tape on it.

For the most part, I don't want to tilt the gimbal. If I do, I want to put it back where I started. Like with a notch or something.

You should adjust the gimbal range (PA Software, Advanced -> Gimbal) so that the camera points horizontally at one end of the tilt lever's range of motion, and vertically at the other end of the range. While you're there, turn the gain right down so the motion is slow and smooth.
