Hi folks, I am new here as my Phantom 3S just arrived today. As I purchased it second hand would anyone recommend any checks or procedures prior to flight? Does it need a reset and if so, how do you do it?

Secondly, my left stick catches a little when pulled fully down. Is this normal or is there any easy fix?

Hoping you can help

It's designed to lock in the full down position to help with landing. I don't recommend you let your Phantom land while the stick is locked down. It's best to gradually lower the stick when your Phantom is close to the ground.

If interested, I have a tutorial that shows how to remove that lock here.

Welcome to the forum!

Yes the left stick is normal.

Look into IMU calibration, and compass calibration.
Here is a couple of chats, I wouldn't do the refer part.
IMU Calibration
Compass Calibration, A Complete Primer
Would hurt to do a Remote calibration also.
There is also a gimbal calibration, not important as the rest for flying.

RTH, is a great feature, but you need to know when it will fail you.
Best Method to RTH?
Lesson learned from crash by RTH because flying with a low battery

Look at @msinger s Phantom Help website
DJI Phantom Accessories & Tips - Phantom Help

I read a lot before I even got my Phantom.

Still have made some stupid mistakes.
