Hello Everyone,
I have an older Phantom 2 Vision, and try to keep it up
To date, with latest and greatest tech. ( what I can afford )!
Anyhow I ordered the new Anti-Static compass, for my craft,
I even ordered extra feet ( although it came with them ), oh well.
I tore phantom apart today, in an attempt to install new compass,
Removed old one ( of corse flytrex in the way ) put new leg on,
Replaced camera, and all other items on belly. Went to put top
Back on and ( AHHHHH CRAP! ) wire too short! What the hay?

How have you guys/gals get through this problem?
Extension wire? Solder? Please let me know?

Also this leads me to believe they have also redesigned
The GPS module, to accommodate new compass!

Does anyone have a picture of the new version 3 p2v GPS MODULE?
If so can you please send it to me?

Also if using an extension cable, would it matter having a 3rd junction
In cable? Or would that be undesirable?

I guess what I'm getting at, should I just put my old one back on,
And call it a day? LOL.....{:0)

Take care, Fly Safe!

Where did you put the compass?

If viewing the bird from the back (looking at the battery), then mine is installed on the back right and the cable length has a wee-bit of slack.

If you tried to install the landing gear on the opposite side, putting the compass on the front left and the cord when then be too short.

Re: Getting annoyed, need clarification ( anti-static compas

Mine looks exactly like yours.
I put it back exactly where original one was.
I can plug it into GPS, but cannot get cover over
Motors. Wire too short, I even tried re-route it inside
A few different ways, no dice?

Also what is the difference between ( p2v and p2v+ ) anti-static compasses?

Mine is a P2V that I transformed into a V3 and I have at least 3/4" left of cable left !

Is your top shell still off? Can you take and post a picture of how you've tried routing the cord?

Yeh, I was able to install some landing gear extensions (between the bottom shell and stock landing gear) and still had enough cable.

Re: Getting annoyed, need clarification ( anti-static compas

I had to put those in also to hold the antennas so ether you are routing it wrong or you just got a funky one .

It looks like there is plenty of cable length. Where exactly are you trying to plug it into?

Re: Getting annoyed, need clarification ( anti-static compas

My old compass mounted to GPS UNIT, but the plus GPS has no compass plug on it?
Should I be plugging my compass somewhere other than GPS MODULE?
Maybe somewhere on motherboard?

Thanks

We had a discussion in here not long ago and had pictures of where all went and will try to find it . We were discussion the way a V3 had only 1 cable coming from the puck .

Ah, the new anti-static compass does not plug into the GPS on the top shell. Wish I had my shell open to take a picture for you. If dirk doesn't find it by tonight, I'll try to open her up tomorrow and show you.

Re: Getting annoyed, need clarification ( anti-static compas

I just found a ( comp ) port on motherboard, did not see it before?
I'm assuming this is the correct location?
Can someone please confirm?

Cool, that is where mine is as well, just looks weird,
Because your seeing my flytrex wires, but the GPS plug
It right in front of my compass connection.
