Futaba T8J - which type?

I'm thinking seriously about getting the Futaba T8J radio for my Phantom, which type do I need?
the Heli or Airplane type?

What are the differences, does it really matter?

Should I consider another radio instead?

The 8J works fine. There are folks praising the 14Ch - 14SG system (get that if you want telemetry - with module options). The 8F has a slightly different transmitter protocol that is technically superior but I chose to go with the 8J. It's sturdy and if you fly with the Zenmuse 3D-2H gimbal, the tilt control is nice. Also, no protruding antenna. Compared to the stock receiver, the Futaba ones have two Tx antennae. Better range than stock.

Get the Tx in Mode 2 (throttle on left). Airplane or copter modes are configurable.
