After buying part 54 and a pair of fatshark fpv goggles I have really been pushing my phantom 3 pro way past my line of sight <2 miles and have been wondering if doing this with fpv goggles violates the FAA regulations regarding past line of sight flight.

Per US law (see more details here), you must keep the aircraft in visual line-of-sight (VLOS). That means you cannot wear goggles or fly further than your eyes can see.

I know commercial operations allow for a spotter. I'm not sure that those same rules can be applied to hobbyist flights though. It seems you'd no longer be flying under the hobby flying rules if you stray outside of Public Law 112-95, Section 336.
