P4P+;
lately, have been simply going to card DCIM folder,
copying all DNGs (photos, no videos) to (2) external HDs,
check to make sure overall sizes are equal, then formatting
P4P+ card via laptop;

is advice to only format via "system" in which card
is employed outdated advice or still true...?
anyone have resulting issues after formatting
via non-DJI methods...? Thanks.

If you're a computer nerd -variety type of person and know enough to do dual downloads and a file compare before formatting then you can be trusted to format the card with the correct file system and eject it correctly.

Otherwise let the aircraft camera format it. ;-)

PS, don't just compare sizes. Do an actual file data comparison. Seriously.

I think that's what I do, but described wrong...?

a. download all DNGs, say 160, from P4P+ card to (2) external HDs
b. select all 160 in P4P+ card & (2) external HD
c. right click > Properties > Size
d. make sure sizes are exactly same byte count for all (3) locations
e. only then format P4P+ card via laptop

Has anyone bumped into issue formatting this way...?

I have seen instances where files were copied with the correct sizes but pieces of the files were missing/corrupt.

In Windows I use the command line tool FC.EXE (File Compare) to compare the files between source and destination after copying. I'm sure there are third-party tools available to automate the process.
