I agree with @PHANTOM_PILOT13 . It sounds like you have max distance enabled. It sounds strange I know, but disable the max distance setting if you actually want max distance. Of course, doesn't the P3S have a max distance limit of 500m in some geos? For instance, if you are in a CE country, 500m is max whereas it's 1000m in an FCC country.

Can you explain the difference between CE and FCC
I'm in CE country and get 3000m
I thought they were just the same safety standard but in different countries???
Thanks

I was just quoting the published specs from DJI for a P3S RC.

Thanks for that :)
Very strange
Not so strange really. As far as I know, there has always been a difference between CE and FCC.
Your two P3Ps for instance are listed as 5 km for FCC countries and 3.5km for CE countries.

I have 2 controllers
One is a 300A and the other a 300C
Do you know if there's any difference between them?
I can't find anything about em.

The 300A and 300B RCs both have the same power output for the control signal. It's only the 300C version of the RC that has reduced power. If you don't do any very long range flights, you probably wouldn't notice a difference with any of the versions in that regard.

The 300A RC has the DaVinci processor and USB 2.0. B and C don't have the internal video processor, but do have USB 3.0.

Here is more info from @GadgetGuy
Old Motors vs. New Ones

The GL300A controller has a frequency range of:
2404.00000000 - 2480.00000000 and a power output of 0.380000 Watts
The GL300B controller has a frequency range of:
2404.00000000 - 2480.00000000 and a power output of 0.380000 Watts
The GL300C controller has a frequency range of:
2404.00000000 - 2470.00000000 and a power output of 0.3030000 Watts

In the settings is an option for max flight distance, highest is 500m about 1600ft also this is the section for advanced and pro.
