Firmware updates

Hi All,
Is it possible to not be on the latest update and still fly? I'm heading away and won't be near an internet connection or computer though my Ipad Mini has a sim in it...not too sure if the app checks and won't let you fly until you update?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, you can still fly.
I'm 2 firmware back, currently.

You might want to hold off on updating right now. DJI is working on some issues. There's no telling whether or not you'll be affected if you upgrade.

Ok thanks. Are you guys using 3G/4G on your ipads or wifi only? I have a sim in mine and am worried it will try and call back home for the firmware or is this not the case?
