Firmware downgrade idea...

Hy!

i bought my phantom standard from second hand. It have been updated to 1.6.8, but it has terrible range... (always drop the rc signal randomly, it's seems to be full at 20 meters, but its drop, and take a rth...)
I upgrade to 1.7.8, it's much better now, but the seller said, the best firmware was the 1.4!
But i can't downgrade to it, but i can't to 1.5 too, because it just allow one rollback...
So, there is any solution, to rollback even more firmware?
If not, i have an idea, and the question is, can be work? Because i don't dare to di it, but maybe someone did it, so:
My aircraft has 1.6.8 now from 1.7: if i rename the 1.4 bin file to 1.7, it can be work? Any opinion?

Some people have successfully downgraded to 1.5.7 like this. You won't be able to downgrade to 1.4 though.

After updated/downgrade，you can see a log file in sd card.
DJI will check the firmware verion but not according the filename.

I downgraded to 1.5.7 from 1.6.8 and it made a world of difference, like a new drone.. DBS next..

ok, just i can't downgrade just from 1.7 to 1.6 any other downgrade aborted...
