Hi,

I am planning to film my kids skying , anyone recommend an ideal config for the camera.
Let us say a configuration for cloudy and one for sunny (but not snowing !)

What filter should I use and what camera set up ? Any tips ?

Thanks guys

Your goal is to slow the shutter down. To get rid of that jumpy look and IMHO looks better. So what you are shooting for is a shutter speed twice of what your frame speed is, as in 1080/60fps you would want 1/120th shutter speed. Or 4k/30fps or 24 you will want to be near 1/60th shutter speed. On a bright sunny day it is hard get one of thoughts targets, my biggest ND is ND32 filter and wasn't enough, but it looks better than it would of.

Camera manually set to 1080/60 fps. Shutter speed manually set to 120th/second.
ND filter of 4 F Stops when sunny on snow/ice
ND filter of 3 F Stops when cloudy on snow/ice.

That's a good starting point. You can check exposure with the histogram or exposure meter.

Without ND filters, camera on auto, then reduce the camera's EV to -2 with the exposure wheel when sunny on snow/ice. A little less when cloudy. (-1.6, -1.3 or -1.0)
