Pretty much because they want a new high tech multi-gazillion dollar gun-like toy to play with. Jeez ---- para military ***** envy at its best.

Why do we even care if drugs or hacksaws make it into a prison? Let em overdose and/or attempt to break out of a federal prison w/ a hacksaw. Less inmates to pay for in the long run.
