I've been thinking about purchasing the new fatshark HD goggles when they become available.

I currently have the DJI 5.8 MHZ transmitter/receiver http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/998680-REG/dji_cp_al_000001_5_8gzhz_video_kit.html

Will the goggles be compatible? Does anyone know what all would be needed to make them work with my phantom 2?

I'm guessing:

Goggles
Antenna
5.8mhz receiver
battery
diopter (bad eyes)

Thanks in advance for your help.

One more question - what is the "Head Tracker" and how does it work?

The transmitter you linked will work. It uses the same 8 channels that Fatshark uses. The stock antennaes are adequate, but upgrade those. Look up IBCRAZY, he's got great tutorials on antennaes.

Headtracker allows the camera to move with the motions of your head. They're usually used on planes. I've yet to see one a Phantom let alone a Quad. I guess you could use one, but why?

Thanks a bunch for your response - I'll look up IBCRAZY!

Also, thanks for the explanation on the head tracker - I have the Zenmuse H3-2D on my phantom, so I'd guess it would only work up and down. I see no point!
