My question is does anyone know "what kind" of pilots license the FAA will require for commercial drones? Will it have to be a commercial pilots license or will just a pilots license be ok?

At the moment they accept anything from Sport Pilot upwards for flying with a Sect. 333 exemption.

Search FAA 333 and you'll find plenty of info.

Both a sport or recreational pilot license are acceptable. The new rules (when released) will only require the new "operator" license.
