Back in March, I purchased the F550 kit and finally got it ready to fly yesterday. The results were downright disappointing as can be seen in the attached video clip. This is especially true due to the time and effort that went into checking everything thoroughly using the assistant software. Things like GPS placement, proper motor rotation, correct prop installation, control stick motion, gain settings, correct switch operation for Mode and IOC, CG with the controller right over that point, just about everything I could think of. The radio is a DX8 with AR9000 with slave receiver. For the first flight I used 1038 props and a 2200mah battery. The system appeared to set up correctly with a couple of green flashes followed by alternating red and green and within a minute, only green. I also initiated and performed a compass cal.
This the first flight attempt:

After verifying rotations, props, stick motions etc. I strapped it down and tried again. This was tried in both GPS mode and ATTI mode. In manual mode I did not really see the drastic lifting on the right.

One other thing that I noticed after these tied down tests was that after about the fourth try, the LED started blinking red. The batteries were fully charged to start with.

Any and all ideas, suggestion greatly appreciated.

It sure looks like you have a motor or two turning the wrong way. At a power level less than take off move your right control fore, aft, left and right to see if the 550 wants to move in the direction toy are telling it.

Definitely looks like you have a motor turning the wrong way or a prop on backwards. I put a piece of tape on each arm of my build with an arrow showing direction. Double checked it with the manual and then bumped each motor with the assistant to make sure it was turning the right way. You said you did that so - double check and make sure the NAZA is aimed the right way. If you have it to the side or backwards, you can tell the assistant.

Did you calibrate the ESCs (do they need to be calibrated - dji ESCs do not normally have to be). It shouldn't do what it did at least not to the extent it did but if one is really out of whack, it might.

Hang in there - you almost have it - the last few tweaks will get it going.

Problem solved. While it sure looked to be motor/prop related, it turned out that I had mounted the Naza FC backwards. That little arrow on the top of the unit is hard to see. This was nothing but a dumb *** on my part.
I turned the thing around and what a difference that made.

It just had to be one of those - it was too blatant a problem. Feels good to get on top of it, doesn't it?

Glad you figured it out!
