I thought I would link my results to my other posting which is not titled as sun hood but does cover the subject of an effective sun hood - after modification. The key thing is that is cheap and effective.
The Nexus tablet is nearly 8 inches so if you are buying a tablet and looking for a similar size sun hood the posting below should help
