Editing P3 video using Davinci Resolve

Does anyone have any tips regarding preference settings when using Resolve for phantom file editing.
In particular, settings involving optimised media and smart cache. It is a pretty good piece of software but there
are many project settings and I find if you don't quite get them right it can slow performance down quite a bit.
Some hints from you experts out there would be much appreciated.

Ray: Every time I click to download the free version of Resolve 12, I get an information sheet to fill out and no way to send it, finish this page and then nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

There is a submit button on bottom Iright of the form. Try another browser if it doesn't show.
