On the Phantom - Which end is considered the "nose"? I assume the end with the status light.

The front of the craft is where the battery door is.

The idea is that you can see the LED indicator 'most' of the time if it's on the rear so you get the info it's trying to tell you, plus, tail-in is the easiest of modes, so if you get in trouble, you yaw round til you see the flashing LEDs for an orientation update
