I'm sure someone has answered this before So please forgive me for asking, but why is there a USB port on the front of our Phantom 3's?

It can be used to access the internal logs stored on the Phantom. I don't know of anything that is able to read them though. DJI uses those logs for troubleshooting when people send in Phantoms for repair.
